Each year, WVAGP hosts WV GeoCon to promote geospatial technology and professions across the state and outside its borders. The conference provides opportunities for professional development, collaboration, and networking for the diverse backgrounds and experience levels of our organization’s membership. It is intended to provide ample time and space for professional development workshops, presentations of ideas, the annual Business Meeting, and networking between professionals, vendors, and organizations that utilize geospatial technology and practices.

Goals

Analyze hyperspectral, time-enabled, synthetic aperture radar (SAR), and oriented imagery to create highly realistic visualizations and gain insights that drive faster response and more efficient operations.
Automate time-consuming workflows by applying geospatial artificial intelligence (GeoAI) tools and deep learning to classify landcover and detect change.
Understand how imagery enhances GIS workflows and how GIS enhances imagery workflows.

Suggested Skills

Experience with Windows-based software for basic file management and browsing is required.
Familiarity with GIS and ArcGIS will be helpful but is not required.

To complete exercises, you need the following:

Esri provides free access to ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and ArcGIS Image Analyst software during the course. To complete course exercises, you must use a machine that meets the ArcGIS Pro system requirements.

A broadband Internet connection and a web browser that allows access to embedded video files are required. We recommend using the latest version of Google Chrome, Apple Safari, or Microsoft Edge.
