Python is a general-purpose high-level programming language, designed to be easily read. Python is used as the primary ArcGIS scripting language to perform geoprocessing and map production tasks. This course introduces the Python scripting syntax and shows how to use scripts to access and automate geoprocessing tasks. You will also work with ArcPy, an Esri-developed site package for Python that integrates Python scripts into ArcGIS Desktop.

COURSE PREREQUISITES: Must have prior ArcGIS experience. WVAGP courses GIS Foundations or Transition to ArcGIS Pro preferred. If you have never done any ArcGIS Python scripting, then you may find the free ESRI online courses Python for Everyone or Learn Python with ArcGIS Notebooks useful.

MEALS AND BEVERAGES: Meals and beverages are not provided for this event. There will be designated times for lunch, but attendees must furnish their own meals and beverages for the day. Beverage use is restricted while in the computer labs.
