About Intro to QGIS

QGIS is a free open-source and freely available desktop GIS software that is well integrated with other open-source tools (e.g., GDAL, GRASS, and SAGA). This two-day course has been designed for those with prior experience with GIS but no prior experience with QGIS. The first day of the course will cover an overview of open-source GIS tools, installation, the QGIS GUI, QGIS plugins, working with and symbolizing layers, digitizing new data, georeferencing, and map layout design. The second day will focus on spatial analysis and will cover a wide variety of tools available in the QGIS Processing Toolbox, including tools made available by GDAL, GRASS, and SAGA. The last topic covered will be automated workflows with the QGIS Graphical Modeler. This course will not cover coding or scripting. It will focus on using the QGIS GUI.
