About Data Editing with Python

Python is a general-purpose high-level programming language, designed to be easily read. Python is used as the primary ArcGIS scripting language to perform geoprocessing and map production tasks. This course covers using Python to perform edits on geospatial data. You will also work with ArcPy, an Esri-developed site package for Python that integrates Python scripts into ArcGIS Pro.

INSTRUCTOR: Jamison Conley, WVU Professor of Geography

COURSE PREREQUISITES: Must have prior ArcGIS experience. WVAGP courses GIS Foundations or Intro to Geoprocessing Scripts Using Python preferred. If you have never done any ArcGIS Python scripting, then you may find the free ESRI online courses Python for Everyone or Learn Python with ArcGIS Notebooks useful

WORKSHOP MATERIALS: Materials will be provided by the instructor.

PARKING: Parking permits will be provided to those who request them through the registration form. Additional fees may be required.

MEALS AND BEVERAGES: Meals and beverages are not provided for this event. There will be designated times for lunch, but attendees must furnish their own meals and beverages for the day. Beverage use is restricted while in the computer labs.

CANCELLATION POLICY: WVAGP policy requires a minimum of 8 registrations to confirm a course. If the threshold is not met by EOB on Friday, May 9th, 2025, the course will be cancelled and all fees refunded. If a student is unable to attend, cancellation prior to May 9th, 2025 will be provided a full refund. You must contact WVAGP directly for the cancellation.
